This probiotic-rich kefir ranch dressing is a great way to sneak some beneficial, gut-healthy bacteria into your diet. Kefir ranch dressing is perfect drizzled over a bed of salad greens or even as a dipping sauce for homemade chicken nuggets!
Recently, I shared a tutorial on how to make milk kefir. I mentioned that our family usually drinks milk kefir in our daily smoothies, but this ranch dressing makes an appearance multiple times a week as well!
This ranch dressing is a wonderful way to add some extra probiotics to your children’s diet, or even your own! My son enjoys this dressing on spinach green almost daily!
Fermented foods are so beneficial to begin adding to your diet. I recommend to try one or two food items to get started then slowly add more. Take it slowly and don’t get overwhelmed. Milk kefir and milk kefir ranch dressing are both VERY simple food items to make and are a great place to start your fermenting journey!
Once you gain some confidence with fermenting foods, you can slowly being to add more to your diet!

WHAT IS MILK KEFIR?
Milk kefir is made from adding kefir “grains” to milk and letting them ferment for 24-48 hours. The microorganisms in these grains rapidly multiply and ferment the sugars in milk, turning them into kefir. (Source)
Kefir grains are comprised of beneficial bacteria and yeast ferments. These grains are very resilient and can be used over and over again to make your own milk kefir.

We consume a variety of fermented foods in our home including jalapenos,, yogurt, pickles, carrots, sauerkraut. However, milk kefir surpasses them all!

HOW LONG DOES Kefir Ranch Dressing last?
This dressing will last in the fridge for about 2 weeks in an airtight container.
TOOLS YOU MAY NEED
- Blender ( I use an immersion blender)
- Mason Jar
- Measuring spoons/cups

ingredients
- 1/2 cup milk kefir
- 1/2 cup mayo (I use this homemade mayo)
- 1/2 lemon juice
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 t salt
- 1/2 t pepper
- Seasonings of choice to your taste preference– Chives, onion powder, dill, parsley, cilantro (use your imagination and flavor it anyway you like!)
HOW TO MAKE Probiotic-Rich KEFIR Ranch Dressing
- Add equal parts milk kefir and mayo to a wide mouth mason jar, along with the remaining ingredients.
- Combine until smooth. I use an immersion blender. You can also just add all ingredients to a blender if you do not have an immersion blender.
- Store in an airtight container. Enjoy!
