Learn these five tips to heal from a cold or flu FAST and FREE! These are all free and VERY effective!
With the colder weather quickly approaching, many believe themselves or a family member will inevitably catch something just because of the time of year. When in all reality, sickness has very little to do with what time of year it is. The cooler months simply bring about weakened immune systems due to most Americans spending less time outdoors, less time moving their bodies, and they usually consume more refined sugars and baked goodies.
When you do happen to catch a cold, the flu, or a virus, try these five tips to help your body heal and recover in record times – all for FREE!
Five Tips to Heal from a Cold or Flu FAST
- FASTING
- HYDRATE
- SUNSHINE
- DO NOT REDUCE A FEVER
- SLEEP
1. Fasting: Why Should you Fast when you are sick?
When our bodies are sick, there is a reason we lose our appetites. Digesting food takes a lot of energy and our bodies would rather put those efforts towards the healing process rather than food digestion.
Fasting is one of the quickest ways to kick a cold or flu!
2. Hydrate: Drink Plenty of water and clear fluids!
We have heard this our entire lives! When you are sick you must stay hydrated! Our bodies lose a lot of fluid fighting illnesses so it is imperative that we do not get dehydrated during this time!
Water is best!
Fluids will also help to flush out toxins and infections faster when your body is healing!
3. Sunshine: The sun is our friend, Especially when sick!
I am a firm believer that the sun will always boost our moods! A small dose of Vitamin D will do wonders for our bodies!
“Vitamin D is crucial due to its miracle-class ability to halt cancer, ease depression, boost bone health, improve brain function, enhance heart health, and much more. Even though vitamin D is often referred to as the sunshine vitamin, it is actually a neuro-regulatory hormone. This may explain why people experience mood swings, depression, and irritability when they are low on vitamin D exposure, such as the winter months or other areas which experience much less sunlight.” (Source)
When sick, wrap up in a blanket and get outdoors! Or at least go sit by a window and let the sunshine stream inside on your body! You won’t believe how much a Vitamin D boost will help!
4. Do not reduce a fever!
Reducing fevers can be a very controversial topic. However, reducing them can lengthen a sickness and only suppress the sickness deeper into our bodies!
When you lower or try to break a fever you are affecting the body’s ability to respond to the infection. The common medicines used to reduce fevers also have very harmful side effects which is another reason to avoid them.
The English doctor Thomas Sydenham called fever “nature’s engine which she brings into the field to remove her enemy.” (Source)
Then the Journal of Leukocyte Biology, studies have shown that certain immune cells work better at elevated temperatures! So a fever, even a high fever, is evidence that the body is hard at work putting up a literal fight burning away an infection or virus!
Contrary to a common myth, a fever is not going to cause brain damage or seizures unless the temp is over 105-106! Don’t panic! Let the body warm up and fight!
5. sleep-and lots of it!
Another common phrase we hear when sick is get plenty of rest! The body heals the most effectively when it is not doing all of the other daily function we ask of it!

No one likes to come down with a cold or flu, so being proactive on the front end is the best way to avoid catching unnecessary illness.
A healthy body will not easily catch an illness! This is the key to avoiding catching a cold or flu.
Our family does this by drinking a daily greens drink to keep our bodies at an alkaline state. (Viruses and bacteria are less likely to thrive in an alkaline body.
