Learn to make this easy, no sew child’s teepee for your toddler! For less than $50 dollars, less if you use scrap lumbar or tree limbs from the woods to stand your teepee, they will love this new hideout in their bedroom!
For my son’s first birthday, my mom volunteered to help make a teepee for him. She and I both are very proficient on the sewing machine, however, I needed this tepee pretty quickly and sewing was not going to fit into my time constraints.
It turned out exactly how I had imagined and my son loves crawling in and out of it! I foresee many hideouts, bedtime stories being read , and games being played inside his teepee as he grows!

Standing the TEEPEE
My husband was in charge of obtaining the dowels/sticks for the tepee and safely securing them. I originally had asked him to find 5 tree limbs in our woods that were close to the same size. However, he opted to go to home depot and buy them.
To secure them together at the top we used jute twine and zip ties. There really was no rhyme or reason to this. We just wrapped the twine and zip ties around the dowels until we had a secure teepee form.
I guess searching the woods for similarly sized limbs was not high up on his priority list.
Adding the drop CLoth
I ordered a 6×9 drop cloth from amazon and used a staple gun to attach it to the wooden dowels. I wanted a tied look at the top of the teepee so we added 5 grommets on each side and ran some leather through in a criss cross pattern.
I love the look this gave the teepee!

How to assemble an easy, no sew Child’s teepee
- Join 5 dowels/sticks at the top with twine and zip ties. We just kept tying until it was secure.
- Measure and add grommets to drop cloth so that they are facing the front of the teepee.
- Attach the drop cloth to the wooden dowels by using a staple gun to secure the cloth. I added most of the staples to the back of the teepee so they would not be seen.
- Add any greenery, floral/elements to personalize your child’s teepee!
