I cannot believe I am already writing this post at 30 weeks pregnant with baby #2! Follow along to read about my home birth preparation, how my glucose testing went, and what supplements I am taking for my Group B Strep regimen.
Wow! I cannot believe I am are already three-fourths of the way through this pregnancy! It seems like just yesterday, I was preparing the video to tell my husband the great news that our family was growing!
We waited until I was around 22-weeks pregnant to reveal this pregnancy to the world! Watch that video here to get caught up! In just 10 short weeks, I cannot wait to meet this baby! We will have two babies under two, but I am ready for the wild ride!
Home Birth PREPARATIONS
In my pregnancy reveal video, I talked a little about our home water birth plans. I shared about the Spinning Babies Daily Essential routine I have been doing, as well as a wonderful podcast I am listening to to keep a positive mindset for this birth.
I am currently working on preparing my birth scriptures and declarations to hang around the room during the birth. Having a constant reminder of the beauty of birth and this beautiful gift from God, is so important to keep in the forefront of my mind during labor.
We are also in the process of renovating a room adjacent to our bedroom for the birth. Our home is currently under construction so is the perfect place to set our water birth. This room will eventually transform into our master bathroom and closet, but for now it is the room in which we will welcome our second child into this world!
We still have some painting and decorating to do and hope to have it finished in the next couple of weeks!
Glucose Testing
I have an entire highlight saved on my Instagram titled “GlucoseTest” explaining my choice for this pregnancy. Check out that highlight out if you are interested in learning more.
I chose to opt out of the glucola test and check my glucose levels via finger pricks instead. I checked and recorded my levels 4 times per day for 10 days and everything looked great!
The only adjustments I made per my midwife’s recommendations, was increasing my protein intake and lowering my carbs at my later meals to avoid any unnecessary blood sugar spikes.
I preferred this method of glucose testing much more than the typical glucola drink that most OB offices have you do. It was also very interesting to see how my numbers fluctuate throughout the day depending on what I had eaten!
Supplements I am taking at 30 weeks pregnant
Megafood Baby & Me 2 Prenatal Vitamin
I started taking a prenatal vitamin when I first found out I was pregnant. The MegaFood Baby & Me 2 Prenatal Vitamins is the whole-food prenatal vitamin I am taking daily. I also take a Vitamin C supplement as well as my Core 4 products from Purium.
Purium has some amazing products that are great for pregnancy. It has been a convenient way to flood my body with organic superfoods that are sourced from the best quality ingredients for me and my unborn child.
The daily core 4 offers a pre-digested, vegan protein capsule, a biome medic that detoxes the gut, a green superfoods shake, and a tart-cherry melatonin, producing drink! I believe these products have helped me have such an easy pregnancy and would recommend them to anyone!
Group B Strep Supplements
Now that I have hit the 30-week mark, I have begun my Group B strep regimen. I will continue this throughout the remainder of this pregnancy. These supplements include garlic, grapefruit seed extract , and a probiotic along with continuing to take the vitamin C and prenatals.
Group B strep is a bacterial infection that can pass on to the baby during birth. It can be very dangerous for a newborn child. Group B strep lives in the intestines and migrates down to the rectum, vagina, and urinary tract. (Source)
If a mama tests positive, most midwives and doctors will recommend an antibiotic during the birth to kill the infection. This keeps the bacteria from passing on to the newborn baby.
If you do happen to test positive prior to going into labor, there are some things you can do to kill the Group B strep naturally. (Source) However, I hope that by using this regimen at the end of my pregnancy, it will ensure I do not test positive for the bacteria.
Baby Names
We have a baby name picked out for this little one, but will not be sharing the name until the birth. This drives our family crazy, but since we revealed the gender, we’d like to keep one aspect a surprise for the birth day!
Due Date is quickly APPROACHING-30 Weeks Pregnant
With just 10 short weeks left until my due date, the pressure is on to get everything ready in time. We have the birth room to complete, the nursery to finish painting and decorating, and our water birth supplies to order. We’d also like to finish a few more home renovations before we have another newborn in the house.
However, I am full intending to enjoy these last 10 week to the fullest and not stress about all that’s left to get done. Remember pregnancy is a blessing and should be enjoyed to the fullest, mamas!
